John Joseph "J.J." Hill, 60, of Grants Pass died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. Services are pending at Stephens Family Chapel. Contributions may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, 939 S.E. Eighth St., Grants Pass, OR 97526. Hill was born Oct. 11, 1949, in San Diego. He was an ordained minister and worked in halfway houses, transitional houses and in drug and alcohol counseling. He also volunteered as a minister in a small village in Mexico and provided ministering and 12-step programs to the prison community. Survivors include two sons, Shon and Ryan; his mother, Grace; three sisters, Karen, Barbara and Bernadette; three brothers, Michael, Jim and Gerald; and two grandsons. His father, John Oliver Hill, died before him.
