Jean Bucan

M. Jean Bucan, 77, of Grants Pass died Monday, June 1, 2009, at her home. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Redwood Christian Church. Contributions may be made to Redwood Christian Church, 4995 Redwood Ave., Grants Pass, OR 97527; or to Lovejoy Hospice, 939 S.E. Eighth St., Grants Pass, OR 97526. She was born Marguerite Jean Brink, July 1, 1931, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Leonard and Marguerite Brink. On Nov. 27, 1949, in Las Vegas, she married Anthony "Bing" Bucan, who died June 13, 1994. They moved to Grants Pass in 1967 from Los Angeles. For 20 years, she worked as a waitress at Denny's restaurant in Grants Pass. She enjoyed gardening, animals and her church family. Survivors include two sons, Robert and Tony Bucan, both of Grants Pass; two daughters, Sue Freeman and Sherry Lowman, both of Grants Pass; a brother, Leonard Brink of Fullerton, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A grandson, Eric Bucan, died Aug. 31, 1990.
