Jay T. Drescher, 75 of Grants Pass passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at his home in Grants Pass. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 1:00 PM, at Stephens Family Chapel Interment will be held on Friday, September 21, 2007, at 3:00 PM, Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Oregon Jay was born on May 28, 1932 to Lyle & Jenny Drescher in Horace, Kansas. He served 20 years in the Navy and retired with honors in 1969. Jay was instrumental in writing up the charter for the gold hash mark. He and his wife, Janet V. McWilliams who survives him, were married in 1953 in Yucaipa, California. After his Navy retirement he moved his family to Grants Pass. Once settled in Grants Pass, he worked for Auto Martins in Grants Pass; Stevens in Medford and Star Import were he retired from in 1991. He was a member of the Rogue River Valley Grange and enjoyed wood working, golfing, reading, and driving for the DAV and the occasional trip to Seven Feathers. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Idaho to visit his favorite cousin, Barbara Bunn. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Janice Malnar of Bend, Judith Blackett of Grants Pass, and Jill Hamm of Grants Pass. He is survived by 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He also considered his sister-in-law Darlene Moore and brother-in-law Larry McWilliams like his own family.
