Jason "Jay" Thompson, 85 of Grants Pass, Oregon passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center in Grants Pass. Private family services will be held at a later date. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to: Redwood Christian Church, 4995 Redwood Avenue, Grants Pass, Oregon 97527 He was born on August 4, 1927 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Paul and Marjorie Thompson. Jay graduated from Hasting High School. He served in the Merchant Marines in the Pacific during WWII from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Norma Jean College in 1948; she preceded him in death in 1971. Jay worked most of his life as a Truck Driver for United Ready Mix. On April 14, 1972 he married Geneva "Genny" Brusaw in Buena Park, CA. They moved to Grants Pass in 1988. Jay volunteered at Asante Three Rivers medical Center ER for many years. He enjoyed baseball, NASCAR racing, and making WWII airplanes from Balsawood. He was a member of Redwood Christian Church, Edgewater Bible study and the Relics Softball. In addition to his wife survivors include son Michael & Carol Thompson of Grants Pass; daughter Janet Gerock of Menifee, CA; Stepson Larry & Monina Brusaw of Fremont, CA; Sister Joyce Boltjes of Kalamazoo, Michigan; 9 Grandchildren and 17 Great grandchildren. In addition to his first wife he was preceded in death by his brother, sister, grandson and a stepson.
