Jane Frances Petitmermet

September 4, 1947 — December 8, 2015

Roseburg resident Jane Frances Petitmermet, age 68, went to be with the Lord, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Jane was born September 4, 1947, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Paul and Louise Petitmermet. She graduated from Darien High School in Darien, CT, in 1965 and obtained a B.A degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1969. Jane then attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, achieving a M.A. degree in Library Science. She then began a career as a librarian in Connecticut, then went on to California, Washington D.C. and to Germany at U.S. Army base libraries in Heidelberg and Nuremberg before returning to California. Jane was an avid traveler, visited many foreign countries, and was fluent in French. In 1996, Jane met Denny Napier and the couple were married on January 10, 1998. They settled in San Diego until retirement and then had the home of their dreams built in Roseburg in 2008. Jane was active in her beloved church, First Presbyterian of Roseburg, and served as a Deacon and member of the Worship Committee. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women, an avid theater-goer and a supporter of the local arts programs. Jane was one of those inspirational, motivated people who made lasting friends with all she met. Jane will be missed by many including Denny, the love of her life. She is survived by husband Denny Napier of Roseburg; brother Robert Petitmermet and sister-in-law Peggy Petitmermet of Elfin Forest, CA; nieces Giverny Petitmermet of Brooklyn, NY, Kate Hammond of Del Mar, CA; and nephew Scott Napier of San Diego, CA. A memorial service for Jane will be held in early January at First Presbyterian Church of Roseburg. The date and time will be published later.
