James Eugene Phipps

James Eugene Phipps, 89, of Grants Pass passed away June 28, 2010, in Grants Pass. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, July 5th, 11:00 AM at First Christian Church with Pastor Wes Winn officiating. Private Interment: Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, Oregon James Eugene Phipps was born July 22, 1920 in Kansas to Edward and Amelia Phipps. He met Myrtle Constance Best in 1939 at the youth group of Epworth Methodist Church. They were married on July 30, 1944 at the church where they met. Gene was in the Navy Air Corp from 1942 until 1945 and together they had one child in 1955,Daniel Edward Phipps now of Pueblo, Colorado. James and Myrtle lived on a ranch near Hanford, CA in Alhambra and Covina and then in 1983 when he retired they moved to GP where they helped built their home off Lower River Road. Myrtle preceded him in death on October 7th 2008. Survivors include one son Daniel Phipps of Colorado.
