James Lloyd Lamb

James Lloyd Lamb, 90, of Grants Pass died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at his home. Services will be held at The Bridge Retirement and Assisted Living at a later date. He was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Vinita, Okla., to Louis and Orlena Lamb. When he was 7 years old, his family moved to Seattle. In 1937, he studied at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland to become a pastor. After graduating, he became the pastor of a small church in Corvallis, Mont. On Sept. 26, 1943, in Stevensville, Mont., he married Edith Bragg, who died before him. In 1951, he and his wife moved to Seattle, where he completed a bachelor's degree at Seattle Pacific College in 1953. He worked as a draftsman and as a mechanical and electrical engineering consultant in Seattle until he retired in 1981. In 2002, he and his wife moved to Grants Pass, where they lived at The Bridge. He enjoyed asking questions, reading history books and atlases, gardening, walking, camping, hunting, fishing, spending time with friends and family, going to church, helping others and painting. He also enjoyed caring for his health. Survivors include two daughters, Sherrill Brumbach and Trish Chamberlain, both of Grants Pass; a son, Jim Lamb of Sammamish, Wash.; a brother, Eugene Lamb of Green Valley, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A son, David, died before him.
