James Clarence Bowling

James Clarence Bowling of O'Brien passed away in the early hours of January 31st as a result of a vehicle crash. Jim was born in Muscatine, Iowa on October 5th, 1929. His quest for adventure led him to enlist in the Army at an early age which took him to Japan and Korea. When he returned, he married the love of his life, Patricia. Life took them west to California where Jim worked hard at various jobs from delivering milk to later becoming a fence contractor and starting his own business. This allowed him to provide a good life for his family. He and Patricia raised three children, Steven Bowling of Ventura, CA, Jackie Chidester of O'Brien, OR and Sandy Knoll of Grants Pass, OR. Their family grew to include six grandchildren and five great-Grandchildren. Sadly, Patricia preceded Jim in death in 1992. In 2005, Jim moved to O'Brien to build the Log Home that he and Patricia had dreamed of during their visits to Oregon. Here, he spent much time with his family including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a man with a true passion for life and for enjoying it for what it was worth. Jim felt truly blessed in his final years to be surrounded by his loving family and good friends. Jim will live on in the hearts and memories of his family with whom he shared so much love, knowledge and guidance. His tenacity and zest for living life on his own terms will be remembered by all that knew him.
