Ike Smith, 72, of Rogue River, Ore., passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Stephens Family Chapel with Pastor Ken Bern officiating. Ike was born Isaac Mahala Smith to Isaac and Jimmie Lee Smith in Temple, Texas. He married Dottie Dorothy Ann Osgood on July 18, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nev. Ike worked as a mechanic for over 30 years. He owned and operated Porterville Performance Center in Porterville, Calif. In the early 1980s he was a professional Bass Fisherman participating on the Budweiser Bass Fishing Team. Ike and Dottie moved to Rogue River from Bellingham, Wash., in 1987. Ike loved fishing and racing cars. In addition to his wife, Dottie, survivors include a son, Rickey Smith, of Medford; four daughters, Yvonne Bratcher, of Nipomo, Calif., Doreen Gemmell, of Eagle Point, Ore., Laura Manning, of Merlin, Ore., and Leeann Smith, of Grover Beach, Calif.; mother, Jimmie Lee Spuryer, of Porterville, Calif.; sister, Patsy Terry of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, and a son, Ronnie L. Smith in 2004.
