On March 4, 2023, Hilda Belford passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 100 years old. Originally from Brooklyn New York, she married Paul Belford on March 21,1942 and they have two daughters, Charlene and Bonnie. They drove cross country to California in 1943. In 1975, Paul and Hilda moved to Grants Pass and built their home on the Rogue River, next door to Charlene and her husband Lee Parrish. In 1981, her daughter Bonnie bought the house across the street and they were all together again!
Hilda was well-loved in her neighborhood and was like a mother to most. Hilda loved to work in the yard, spend time with her grandkids and paint. Hilda’s paintings could be seen at the Josephine County Fair every year, winning many ribbons. She was still painting up to the last several months of her life.
Hilda is survived by her daughter, Bonnie, her four grandchildren (Charlene) Robert (Carla) and Jodi (Mike) McCrosky and (Bonnie) Tami (Thomas) Velasquez and David (Rory) Roseberry. She also had nine great-grandchildren: Katie, Matthew, Tommy II, Nick, Grayson, Lauren, Lexi, Ian and Brandon. She was deeply loved and will be missed greatly.
There will be a family service at a later date.
