Henry Andrew Benchek

Henry Andrew Benchek, fondly known as Hank, passed away on Thursday, May 29th, 2014 at Spring Pointe Memory Care in Grants Pass. He was 86 years old. Hank was born December 3rd, 1927 in Newport Township, PA to Ignatz & Louise Brzenczek. He was raised in Pennsylvania and joined the Navy when he was 17 years old, serving during the end of WWII. He married Dorothy Ann Czerwinski in Nanticoke, PA on May 15th, 1948. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Hank worked as a Maintenance Engineer at various hospitals and loved helping others. He enjoyed bowling, polka dancing, card games, trips to Reno and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a family man and good friend who was loved by all. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Ann Benchek of Grants Pass, OR, daughters, Lucille M. Benchek & Barbara J. Wiley of Auburn, CA, Cynthia A. Nagel of Rogue River, OR, sons Stephen A. Benchek of Santa Barbara, CA & Robert J. Benchek of Lompoc, CA and his 5 grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at the familys home.
