Helen V. Piper, 90, of Grants Pass died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Oak Lane Retirement Community as the result of a brain tumor. No services are planned at this time. Piper was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Wilmington, Calif., where she was raised. She lived in several cities in California before moving to Talent in 1989. She moved to Silver Springs, Nev., in 1998, and then to Grants Pass in 2004 to be near her grandchildren. For 72 years, she was married to Clem Piper, who died in 2009. At age 36, she went to work for Title Insurance and Trust. She and her husband retired in 1977. She attended Calvary Crossroads Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling. She especially enjoyed raising her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Benjamin and Jim, both of Grants Pass, and John of Corona, Calif.; three sisters; two brothers; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
