Helen Christine Leahy

Helen Leahy 71 of Indio, California, died January 9, 2011, at the home of her grandson in Grants Pass, Oregon after a long battle with cancer. Her husband Daniel survives her as well as her 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Helen recently moved to Grants Pass to be by her daughters due to her battle with cancer. She spent her life in the desert area of California. She dedicated the last 40 years to the recovery field, where she codirected an alcoholic recovery home, ABC Recovery Center, with her husband. Helen is best known to her family for her sense of humor, and dedication to the recovering alcoholic. Her life of service did not go unnoticed, she received the Woman of the Year from Soroptomist of the Desert. Helen co-received the Firestone Award with her husband. Everyone's life became better for having known her. She not only touched lives but had ability to help change them for the better. She will be greatly missed. The world will be a less whole without her in it.
