Helder J. Vieira, a resident of Grants Pass, Oregon, Passed away on February 27, 2016 at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. Helder was born in Lajes das Flores, Azores Islands, Portugal on March 3, 1952. After coming to the United States, his family settled in Hanford, California, where he worked on his family's dairy farm. He later moved to San Jose, California, where he was employed by the Cambrian School District also in San Jose for twenty-three years. After retiring, Helder moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, where he lived with his wife, Cindy, until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Maria Vieira; Sister Leah Alves; and Brother Alvin Vieira. He is survived by his wife Cindy Vieira; Daughter Connie Vieira-Galaviz of Madera, California; Son Helder Vieira of San Jose, California; Son Gary Mayfield of Olivehurst, California; Eleven grandchildren; One great-granddaughter; Sister Ida Rager of Port Aransas, Texas; and Sister Cindy Ott of Lake Shasta, California. A celebration of his life will be held on March 10, 2016 at 2pm at Stephens Family Chapel in Grants Pass, Oregon with a reception to follow. The scattering of his ashes will take place on March 11, 2016 by family members off the coast of Brookings, Oregon.
