Glen Pershing Price

Glen Pershing Price, 95, of Grants Pass died Friday, July 11, 2014, at his home. One of four children, he was born Oct. 18, 1918, in New Cambria, Mo., to Lewellyn and Minnie Price. In 1935, his family moved from Missouri to Southern California. During World War II, he was in a medic unit with the 88th Infantry and saw action in Italy, France and North Africa from 1943 to 1944. He was wounded in Italy and received many decorations, including the Purple Heart, a presidential citation and a medical combat badge. He retired in 1976 after owning and operating a chicken ranch for 13 years and spending 15 years as a Postal Service employee, both in San Bernardino, Calif. In 2001, he and his wife moved to Grants Pass He enjoyed his family, his garden, reading his Bible, mystery novels, crossword puzzles and twice-daily walks around his neighborhood. Survivors include two sons, Benjamin Price of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Thomas Price of Grants Pass; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His wife of 60 years, Ruth Price, died in 2006. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Molly and Gwen Price, and a brother, Elijah Lee Price.
