Gilda Schatte, 92, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at Harmony Gardens Adult Family Care. For online condolences and tributes please visit stephensfc.com. Arrangements by Stephens Family Chapel, Grants Pass, Oregon. No services are planned. Gilda was born on June 29, 1921 in Long Beach, California to Frederick and Ruth Rose. An avid reader, she was knowledgeable on many subjects. Gilda became interested in stained glass and produced many beautiful pieces. During her lifetime, she worked hard and played hard, always learning. Before moving to Oregon, Gilda and her husband lived in So. CA. where she enjoyed exploring the desert. She was an adventurous soul and loved camping. Together they built a home in Williams, OR where she opened her home to many cats and dogs. She loved the flora and fauna of her adopted state. After her husband died in 2003, she moved to Grants Pass. She was lucky enough to get a couple of cruises under her belt before finally settling down. For those who really knew her she was extraordinary and will be missed. She is predeceased by her husband, Irven Schatte.
