Gerald "Jerry" McAlmond, 69, of Grants Pass died Thursday, June 12, 2008. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. June 29 at Tom Pearce Park. McAlmond was born April 1, 1939, in Phoenix, Ariz. He was an owner-operator truck driver, contractor and police officer. He also worked on the Alaskan pipeline, built bridges, constructed many homes in the Grants Pass area, and worked for the county maintenance and mental health departments. He was a representative for the American Poolplayers Association in Grants Pass. He enjoyed playing pool and he was a captain for several pool teams. He also enjoyed golf, horses, sand rails, country music, square dancing, talking with people and life. In addition to his wife, Jill McAlmond, survivors include a son, Sam McAlmond; three daughters, Teresa Bell, Sheri Robinson and Dee Dee Hopkins; two stepsons, Loren Ryberg and Bart Burroughs; a sister, Ann Sackrider; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
