George Chester Donnell Jr., 78, of Grants Pass died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center. Services with military honors will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery. He was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Alameda, Calif., to George and Lilly Donnell. From 1971 to 1993, he served in the Air Force and from 1972 to 1993, he was chief of ground safety for the Air Force. In 2004, he moved to Grants Pass from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He enjoyed photography, hunting and boating. Survivors include two sons, George Donnell III of Yuba City, Calif., and Bryan Donnell of Bend; a daughter, Denise Rager of Yuba City, Calif.; a sister, Marilyn Dresher of Santa Rosa, Calif.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
