George B. Dilley, 96, of Grants Pass, died Oct. 1, 2009, at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Stephens Family Chapel. He was born on Aug. 11, 1913, in Silverton to Walter and Clara Dilley. He served in the Navy from Dec. 26, 1931, until his honorable discharge on Nov. 1, 1954, as a lieutenant commander. In 1938, in Gig Harbor, Wash., he married Edith Lowe, who survives. He received a degree in business law and a master's in economics from Willamette University. He then taught business law and economics at Fullerton Junior College. In 1990, he moved to Grants Pass from California. He was a member of the Shriners and Masons in Oakland, Ca. He enjoyed traveling and working in his garden. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Kenneth Dilley of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Patrick Dilley of Dilley; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Two children, George Jr. and Laura Jean, died before him.
