Gary Hicks

Gary Walter Hicks, 71, of Grants Pass died May 10, 2012. A celebration of his life will be held June 9 at 3 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 269 Harbeck Road, with pastors Ken Burns, Mike Meer and Larry Halstead officiating. Stephens Family Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, tax-deductible contributions may be made to Images of Light, c/o MDMM, 2227 Twin Peaks Court, Spring Hill, TN, 37174; or to the Fireplace Trust, 1630 Williams Highway, PMB 39, Grants Pass, OR 97527. He was born Aug. 30, 1940. Hicks was an entrepreneur who spent many years in the grocery business and worked at his own store. He became a meat broker later in life and was a real estate agent for Century 21 JC Jones American Dream real estate. He attended the Cornerstone Church for more than 20 years and was a home group pastor for 12 years. Among his hobbies were gardening, coin collecting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and family. Hicks is survived by his wife, Teresa Hicks of Grants Pass; mother, Faith Bache of Hermiston; three sons, Thomas Hicks of Sisters, David Hicks of Agana, Guam, and Matthew Hicks of Portland; three daughters, Suzanna Hupp of Franklin, Tenn., Tina Gieffers of Spokane, Wash., and Rebekah Hicks of Portland; three stepdaughters, Wendy Revias of Renton, Wash., Charlotte Jonhasson of Rolling Hill Estates, Calif., and Marsha Hicks-Enriquez of San Pedro, Calif.; a stepson, Jason Gent of Carmel, Calif.; a sister, Donna Moussalli of Rolling Hill Estates; two stepsisters, Bonnie Emetts of Libby, Mont., and Dottie Shefield of Hermiston; and 23 grandchildren.
