Gary David Abernethy

Gary David Abernethy, 75, of Grants Pass died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Edgewater Christian Fellowship 101 Assembly Circle, Grants Pass. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gospel Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 190, Grants Pass, OR 97528. He was born Nov. 13, 1934, in Pampa, Texas, to Eldon and Thelma Abernethy. He graduated from Amarillo High School and he served in the Marines in Korea. After moving to Grants Pass from Santa Maria, Calif., he attended Edgewater Christian Fellowship. Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Abdun-Nur of Grants Pass, and Deborah Abernethy of Santa Maria, Calif.; two sons, David Abernethy of Santa Maria, Calif., and Glen Abernethy of Chandler, Ariz.; two sisters, Patricia Alderson of Lubbock, Texas, and Sharon Knowles of Albuquerque, N.M.; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
