Fred Richard Erickson

Fred Richard Erickson, 66, of Grants Pass died Friday, May 29, 2009, at his home. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. He was born Feb. 11, 1943, in Merced, Calif., to Fred and Marie Erickson. He served in the Navy in Vietnam. On June 27, 1970, in Lake Tahoe, Calif., he married Simona Lee Heins, who survives. For more than 30 years, he worked for Alameda Naval Air Station in Alameda, Calif. On Sept. 10, 2001, he and his wife moved to Grants Pass from San Lorenzo, Calif. He enjoyed cars, fishing, camping, car racing, blackjack tournaments at Seven Feathers and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Lori Hankins of Grants Pass; two sisters, Beverly Haarberg of Surprise, Ariz., and Gale Lemas of Klamath Falls; and five grandchildren.
