Theodore Franklin "Frank" Combs, 90, of Grants Pass died Friday, July 25, 2008, at his home. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilderville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Judy Currier officiating. Interment will follow at Wilderville Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Grants Pass Area Habitat for Humanity, 338 Ramsey Ave., Second Floor Caveman Color, Grants Pass, OR 97528. Combs was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Eau Claire, Wis. After high school, he served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He earned a degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and worked for Pacific State Hospital in Pomona, Calif., for 30 years. In the late 1980s, he moved to Grants Pass from Southern California. He was a member of Newman United Methodist Church, the Rogue River Accordion Club and the Charlie Brown Square Dancers. He enjoyed playing the accordion, rewriting songs for the accordion, traveling and square dancing. Survivors include a son, Ted Combs of Grants Pass; two daughters, Jean and Jeannette Padget, both of Tacoma, Wash.; and a grandchild.
