Florence Adabelle Loughran

Florence Adabelle Loughran, 94, of Grants Pass died on September 30, 2016, at Rubi's House of Care in Grants Pass after battling ovarian cancer. Florence was born on August 12, 1922, in San Francisco, California, to Adabelle Blair and Thomas Brooks. She moved to Grants Pass in 1971. During her life in the Rogue Valley she was active in Bethany Presbyterian Church, where she worked as the church secretary for 20 years. Through the church she was an active participant in both Stephen Ministry and Wellspring. Florence was a Lovejoy Hospice volunteer for ten years. Florence was a founding member of Grants Pass' Joy Luck Club reading discussion group, which received a postcard from author Amy Tan on the group's 10th anniversary. Florence's creative outlets included reading, sewing, cooking, playing Scrabble and other games, and, beginning at age 78, watercolor painting. Florence was light-years ahead of the fitness crazes of today. Donning gray sweats she would ride her bike to the pool to swim and also do exercises to Jack LaLanne and yoga with Richard Hittleman. Florence truly appreciated Mother Nature. She enjoyed both overnight and day hiking and camping. Even in her last days she wanted the window open to breathe fresh air. Florence was never one to be without at least one plan of action for some sort of adventure. Her adventures included world travels to such places as Austria, New York, Washington, D.C., Boston, a four-month round-the-USA camping trip, Hawaii, many National Parks and Monuments and Guam, as well as local trips around the Pacific Northwest. Florence is predeceased by her parents, husband John Albrecht and husband Harold Loughran. Florence is survived by son Steve Albrecht his wife, Marge, Elko, Nevada, granddaughter Stefani Albrecht Munk, her husband Kelly, and great grandchildren Kelsey and Carson, Visalia, California. Son Jeff Albrecht, his wife, Dyane, Grass Valley, California, grandson Jason Albrecht, wife Mandy and great grandson Cyrus, San Diego, California; and grandson Michael Albrecht, wife Stacey and great grandsons Owen and Rocky, Patterson, California. Daughter Vickie Loughran and husband Richard Fischer, Guam. A private celebration of life will be held on October 15, 2016.
