Eva Lee Roberts passed away peacefully at her home in Central Point on July 13, 2023 at 93 years of age. Eva was born March 5, 1930 to Charlie and Lillie Mae Hicks in Smackover, Arkansas. Eva was the oldest daughter of 11 children and learned at a young age to cook, clean, and help with the crops and serve others.
Eva married Norman Denton Roberts on February 23, 1946 in the parlor of a beautiful antebellum mansion in Lake Village, Arkansas. They soon moved to California where they raised their four children in Little Valley, Burney, and Chico. Eva continued her life of serving others by cleaning homes and cooking and giving to others. She cooked and managed a satellite kitchen for the Chico School District for 25 years. In 1991, they moved to Medford, Oregon and assisted daughter Barbara and husband Pastor Les McDonald with the ministry of New Life Church of God. She remained a strong member of the church until her death.
As the caretaker for a houseful of siblings, and later as a mother of four, Eva was a great nurturer of others. She was a fiery spirit full of fun and adventure for all who knew her. She could ask for or extend forgiveness just as quickly as she fired up. She is survived by her children; Barbara McDonald, Ann (Wayne) Gunter, Eve (Steve) DeSart, Norm Jr. (Kristina) Roberts, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and her many, many friends.
Eva always had a deep faith and commitment to Jesus. She lived a life of prayer, counted all of her blessings, and was most proud that all of her children lived a life for the Lord.
