Emerald Lavonne Robertson (born October 21, 2006, in Medford, Ore.) died Thursday night when the cabin they were sleeping in was destroyed by fire in Phoenix. They were the children of Jenetta Robertson and her former husband, Michael Robertson, both of Medford. The mother and children were staying in the cabin situated next to the home of the parents of Christian Plankenhorn, Jenetta's fiancee, when the fire occurred. Like his father and his parents, Ethan loved race cars and had a special fondness for the movie "Cars." One of his most favorite possessions was his race-car bed. His final memories will be of falling asleep in it Thursday evening. Both Ethan and Emmie were frequently part of the audience for concerts by the Ashland City Band, watching their mother and her parents perform with the group. Survivors include their parents; paternal grandparents, Gerald and Sharen Robertson, of Medford; maternal grandparents, Norman and Yvonne Rowe, of Gold Beach; paternal great-grandfather, Gene Robertson of Anaheim, Calif.; paternal great-grandparents, Don and Nola Griffen of Crossville, Tenn.; maternal great-grandmother, Flora Hayes of Lincoln, Ark.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, at the pavilion near the playground in Bear Creek Park in Medford (one of Ethan's favorite spots to go.)
