Elmer J. Silva, 85, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stephens Family Chapel. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. He was born June 11, 1922, in Berkeley, Calif., to Joseph and Eva Silva. In 1940, he graduated form Berkeley High School. From 1943 to 1946, he served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. On July 1, 1950, in Reno, he married Virginia Rivenbark, who survives. They were members of Congregational Church in Pleasant Hill, Calif., for many years. In 1992, they moved to Grants Pass from Pleasant Hill. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting, golf, yard work and playing Yahtzee. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Christine Mayfield of American Canyon, Calif.; a son, Glen Silva of Lafayette, Calif.; a brother, Ernest Silva of El Cerrito, Calif.; a sister, Betty Rivenbark of Hayward, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
