Elaine Lida Andrus

Elaine L. Andrus. 90, formerly of Lincoln Hills, California died suddenly and peacefully of a stroke on February 29, 2012 in Grants Pass at Three Rivers Community Hospital. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Stephens Family Chapel, 1629 Williams Highway, Grants Pass, Oregon. A visitation will be held at the same location on Friday, March 23, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. She was born in San Francisco on October 16, 1921 to Cristobell G. and Howard Ellis. She resided in California, Arizona, Ohio and Hawaii during her lifetime. She raised 2 children, Kathy and Richard with her former husband, Merle Andrus of Concord and Long Beach, California. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class in Coolidge, Arizona. She enjoyed taking various college classes throughout her lifetime. While living in the Bay Area and Hawaii she worked in sales and real estate. While residing in Davis, CA she played an active role in assisting with the development of building projects related to the UC Davis department of Enology. She was active with Junior Achievement, taught modeling and etiquette, volunteered on a mental health board, served as a hospital volunteer and was a community and political activist. She participated actively in her church and began a prayer ministry for our troops when she was in her 80's. She loved flower gardening and traveling. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, special friends and other family members. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Oehling of Grants Pass and her son, Richard Andrus of Cool, California, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her parents and a brother predeceased her. In lieu for flowers, contributions can be made to the Kartini Foundation (a clinic for childhood eating disorders), 2800 N.
