Edward Biron, 91, of Rogue River died Aug. 16, 2009, at Laurel Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be held at a later date. He was born July 18, 1918, in Canada to Arthur and Isabelle Biron. He married Edna Potter, who died before him. He was a deputy sheriff in Orange County, Calif. In 1968, he moved to Rogue River. He worked as a real estate broker operating Byron Enterprises until 1977 when he retired. He enjoyed horses, music and teaching children. In the Rogue River schools he was known as "Grandpa Ed." He received the President's Call to Service Award and two letters from the White House for his volunteer work. Survivors include a son, Ron Biron of Hawaii; two granddaughters, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
