Edward Eugene Bachmann

Edward Bachmann "Bud" Edward was born in St. Paul, Minnesota September 25th, 1921. At the age of 9 he started working in his father's hardware store. During high school he went to Mechanic Arts school and became a Watchmaker. After joining the Air Force in 1942 he married his wife Elaine. He worked as a mechanic repairing bomber planes during WWII. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed in difference countries such as England, France and Germany. After the war ended and he came back to his hometown St. Paul and started working in his field of Watch making. In 1946 his first son Dennis was born. In 1949 his second son Gary was born and then his daughter Diane was born in 1951. Edward and his wife raised their children in Minnesota until 1953 then decided to relocate to the Bay Area of California. In California, he continued to work in his profession and worked at Ted Stiner's Jewelers in San Mateo, CA and Hirzel Jewelers in Menlo Park, CA. In 1978 he decided that being his children were grown, he and Elaine relocated to Rogue River, OR. While living in Rogue River, he secured himself a job with Harts Jewelers in Grants Pass and would continue to work there 11 years up until his retirement. During his time in both Oregon and California, he made several long time dear friends. Once Edward retired, he enjoyed fixing watches and clocks in his spare time as well as bowling, gardening and camping. He was a very proud Grandfather of 6 children and 6 Great Grandchildren. Late in life he enjoyed going out to eat and loved spending time with his family and especially his young great grandchildren. He was a devout Catholic and enjoyed being a member of St. Ann's Church in Grants Pass. Edward is survived by his wife Elaine, 3 children, Dennis, Gary and Diane, 2 daughter in-laws, Sanda and Barbara, 6 grandchildren, Brandon, Kelly, Tanya, Brittany, Shawn, Heath and his 6 great grandchildren, Griffin, McKenzie, Taylor, Ivy, Athena and Kylie, all of Grants Pass. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Augustus Bachmann, mother, Grace Bachmann and sister, Edna Gill. Services for Edward will be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, OR 97524 on Monday, March 24th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.
