Dwayne D. Prose

Dwayne D. Prose 78 of Williams passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass, Oregon. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 25th, 10:00 AM at Sparlin Cemetery in Williams. Pastor Russ Gibson officiating. Dwayne was born on February 24, 1931 in Fairport, Kansas to Lea and Matilda Prose. He moved to Williams in the early 50’s from Little River, Kansas. He met and married Barbara Ellen Tompkins on November 1, 1953 in Williams she preceded him in death 2006. He worked for the Oregon Dept. of Transportation for 28 years retiring in 1989. He was a long time member of the Josephine County Search and Rescue. He attended Provolt Community Church. Dwayne enjoyed reading, hunting, traveling and singing and playing with the Old Time Fiddlers. Survivors include four sons, Dwayne “Spark” Prose of Williams, Darrel Prose of Applegate, Donald Prose of Merlin and Lee Prose of Portland; three daughters, Janeane Roark of Corbin, Kentucky, Judy Bartlett of Williams and Barbara Craig of Williams; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.
