Dwain R. Smallwood, 80, of Grants Pass died June 7, 2022. He was born to James and Edith Smallwood on July 18, 1941, in Stanton, Kentucky. He served in the Navy and after spending most of his life in Indiana, he moved to Grants Pass in December of 2003.
Dwain became a real estate broker in 2004, and worked for Century 21 Harris and Taylor until last year. His many talents included colorful storytelling and creative woodworking. Dwain was a very caring and compassionate person and an act of kindness toward someone in need would honor Dwain's spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Calderone; his children, Michele Saysana and her husband Chan, Joe Smallwood and his wife Ashley, and Calvin Smallwood and his wife Brigitte; his grandchildren, Jack, Caroline and Robert Saysana, Charlotte and Wren Smallwood, Travis, Grant and Lorelei Smallwood; and a sister, Dana Biddle. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Virginia Kelly; and nephews and nieces, including Cindy Smallwood and Lisa Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Jay, Leon, Harry and Mike.
A remembrance gathering in honor of Dwain Smallwood will be held at Schroeder Park in Grants Pass on Tuesday June 28th, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00.
