Dorothy DeHaven

Dorothy Louise DeHaven, 80, of Merlin, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at her home. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Stephens Family Chapel, which is in charge of cremation arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.stephensfc.com. She was born on June 18, 1930 in Pueblo, Colo., to William and Bessey Martin. She graduated from high school in Avondale, Colo., in 1948. She married Jack Spear in October 1950 and the couple later divorced in 1969. On March 20, 1970 in Pueblo, she married Raymond M. DeHaven, who died in 2007. The couple moved from there to Merlin in 1986. DeHaven attended Parkway Christian Center. Survivors include three sons, Jim Spear of Pueblo, Steve Spear of Grants Pass and Doug Spear of Merlin; a daughter, Vicki Meissner of Anchorage, Alaska; four stepchildren, Richard DeHaven of Davis, Calif., David DeHaven of Salida, Colo., and Linda McCarty and Valerie Sjordal, both of Woodland, Calif.; two sisters, Marie Colnar of Pueblo and Carole Massey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Melvin Martin of Pueblo; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and four great grandchildren.
