Doris A King

Doris A. King, 79 of Grants Pass passed away July 9, 2016 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass, Oregon. Doris was one of nine children, she was born on August 29, 1936 to Russell and Lillian (Stone) Kiper in Chenoa, Illinois. Doris married Harold E. King on August 3, 1953 in Blue Ridge, Georgia. They had four children during their 63 wonderful years together. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and woodworking. She was an amateur radio operator and used it to keep her family in touch. She called herself a country girl but thoroughly loved being on the water. She and her husband spent many years on their houseboat on their favorite lake, Lake Shasta. Doris was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and supported her husband in all Shrine activities. Survivors include her husband, Harold E. King of Grants Pass, OR; her son Ric A. King (Barbara) of Gresham, OR and her daughter Miranda L. Hall (Rick) of Rocklin, CA. She had 5 grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Melissa, Lacie, and Brandon with 7 great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Lillian Kiper; her son Rusty D. King; her daughter Bambi L. King; and three Brothers Melvin, Randall, and Roger. A private family service was held on July 13, 2016 In lieu of flowers her wish was to have donations made to Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd, Portland, OR 97201
