Donald Lee Kane

Donald Lee Kane, 82 of Grants Pass passed away Friday, September 7, 2012 at the home of his step-daughter in Grants Pass, Oregon. Services will be held Monday, September 10th, 2:00 PM at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ken Bern officiating. Donald was born on May 29, 1930 in Burlington, Washington to Robert and Glendora Kane. He served in the United States Navy from 1948 - 1952 in the Korean War. From 1975 - 1978 he worked the Alaskan Pipeline where he met, Jennie Theresa Combs who he married on February 14, 1978 in Grants Pass, Oregon. She preceded him in death on June 18, 1998. Donald was a Mill Worker working for CO-Gap Plywood Mill in Medford, Oregon and then Spalding in Grants Pass, Oregon where he retired from. He moved to Oregon in 1983 from Anchorage Alaska. Donald enjoyed watching all sports, horse racing at the fairgrounds and loved to raise farm animals. Survivors include his sons, Robert Kane of Elbert, Colorado, Greg Kane of Medford, Oregon and Brad Kane of Clatskanie, OR; stepson, Donavan Laumeyer of Grants Pass; stepdaughter's, Cindy Brooks of Arlington, WA, Peggy Reed of Central Point, OR and Diane Hyde of Grants Pass; brother, Richard Kane of Medford, OR; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
