Don Barrett

Don R. Barrett, 84, of Grants Pass passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. Memorial Service: Saturday, March 22nd 2:00 PM at The Vet Club in the Veterans Memorial Building, 1626 Willamette, Eugene, Oregon. A local memorial service will be planned for a later date. Don was born on November 6, 1923 in Middleton, Oregon to Stuart and Myrtle Barrett. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1941. Don served in the Untied States Army from February 20, 1943 until his honorable discharge in January 13, 1946 in Fort Lewis, Washington. He married Trudy Barrett on April 12, 1974 in Reno, Nevada. In 1995 they moved to Grants Pass from Vancouver, Washington. Don was a member of the Three Rivers Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion and the Elks for 35 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed bowling and woodworking. Survivors include his wife Trudy of Grants Pass; two sons, Martin Barrett of Springfield and Rocky Barrett of Eugene, Oregon; step-son, Jeff Richard of Grants Pass; step-daughter, Patricia Allison of Vancouver, WA; eight grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a step-daughter Kathy Schantz.
