David Kirwood

David "Sandy" Kirkwood, 93, of Rogue River died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Morrow Heights Retirement and Assisted Living in Rogue River. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hills Mortuary in Whittier, Calif. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park. He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Newcastle, Wyo., to Arch and Jennifer Kirkwood. On June 25, 1936, in Cheyenne, Wyo., he married JoAnn Shore, who died in January 2008. They moved to Oregon in 1964 from Downey, Calif. For most of his life, he worked as an electrical contractor. He was a member of Full Gospel Business Men and the Assembly of God. He also was a Third Degree Mason and an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing. Survivors include four sons, Arch Kirkwood of San Clemente, Calif., William Kirkwood of Downey, Calif., Bob Kirkwood of Grants Pass, and Jim Kirkwood of Rogue River; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
