David Bradford Coutant, 88 of Grants Pass passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Kingsington Place Memory Care in Grants Pass, Oregon. Services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013, 2:30 pm at Spring Village Retirement and Assisted Living Community, 1420 Redwood Circle, Grants Pass, Oregon 97527. David was born on January 24, 1925 to Ben and Florence Coutant in Grants Pass, Oregon. He graduated from Grants Pass High School and then enlisted in the army and served in France during WWII. He attended the University of Oregon and then worked at Bates Plywood in Merlin. In 1956, he married Sally Lou Ahlstrom of Grants Pass. Sally Lou passed in 1962. He married Lou Anne Wolf of Salem, Oregon in 1963 and they had just reached their 50th Anniversary. David began Coutant's Restorations in Grants Pass and worked the remainder of his life as a craftsman in furniture repair, refinishing and refurbishing. Some of his proudest work was for the Newman United Methodist Church following their 1980 fire. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, chair caning, antiquing, marble cutting, lamp building, stained glass, needle point and sports. He was an especially close follower of University of Oregon football. In addition to his wife, Lou Anne, he is survived by his son's, Brad Coutant of Billings, Montana, Ben Coutant of Eugene, Oregon, Jeff Coutant of Ferndale, California and Bruce Coutant of Lostine, Oregon and 7 grandchildren.
