David R. Brookshire (52), beloved husband to Bev Ann (Kreisher) Brookshire, lost his battle with lung cancer on Saturday, October 13th, 2012, surrounded by his family. After he was diagnosed with lung cancer in July, he and Bev Ann made the decision to move to Grants Pass, Oregon to live out his remaining days with his Aunt Sharon Warren and his sister Dianne. He spent his last few months enjoying the peacefulness of sitting on the open deck during the day and the fire pit in the evening spending time with family and friends, telling stories and sharing memories. He spent time laughing and smiling as much as he could during his last days. It was very evident that his love for his family was the most important thing to him. You could see the love in his eyes as he watched Bev Ann go about her day and it showed through till the very end. David, the son of James Ray Brookshire and Frances (Walker) Fones, was born on April 4, 1960 in San Diego, California. After graduating high school in 1978 he joined the US Navy where he served for 13 years as a Lithographer in San Diego, and then as a Recruiter in Grand Junction, Colorado. In 1998 David and Bev Ann moved to Canton, Ohio where he worked as a Civil Draftsman for 10+ years for Earth Sciences and North Point Environmental. David was preceded in death by his mother and his sister, Dona (Dess) Tibbitts. He is survived by his first wife, Keri Brookshire-Herron (CA), his son, Kristopher Brookshire (US Army Base, Maryland) and his daughter, Lauren Brookshire (San Diego, CA), his second wife Bev Ann and his step-daughter, Ginnett (James) Codington, and four granddaughters (Fort Lewis, WA). He is also survived by four sisters, Dianne Brookshire, Debbie (Roy) Tuson (Templeton, CA), Darcy (Glen) Jager (Woodland, CA), and Dana (Tim) Jensen (Chandler, AZ). He will be terribly missed by all of his family and friends. As a final gift David donated his body to medical science where they will hopefully be able to use what they discover to further cancer research. A celebration of life will be held for David on November 10th at the Buckboard Grill in Grants Pass, Oregon from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made in David's name to your local Hospice chapter. They were a blessing to David and his family in his final hours.
