H. Craig Johnson, 55, of Grants Pass died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at his home. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Parkway Christian Center. He was born Aug. 31, 1953, in Yuba City, Calif., to Hubert and Marilyn Johnson. He graduated from Live Oak High School in Live Oak, Calif. On Aug. 28, 1971, in Terra Buena, Calif., he married Sherry Saunders, who survives. They lived in Live Oak until 1981, when they moved to Anchorage, Alaska. In 1987, they moved to Grants Pass, where he was employed by Environmental Container Systems. He was a member of Parkway Christian Center. He enjoyed his job and the people he worked with. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and spending time with his children and granddaughters. He was athletic and he played basketball and baseball. In the late 1970s, he played football for the Oakland Raiders. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Layne Johnson of Grants Pass, and Lance Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Monica Johnson of Anchorage; his mother, Marilyn Potter of Anchorage; his father, Hub Johnson of Yuba City, Calif.; and four granddaughters.
