Cleone Arlene Rieland, 96, of Grants Pass died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, in Grants Pass. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Stephens Family Chapel. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park mausoleum. Rieland was born June 22, 1912, in Sprague, Wash., to Lancelot and Bessie Barton. Her early years were spent in Olympia, Wash., where she enjoyed playing sports, including baseball, basketball and hockey. In 1944, in Spokane, Wash., she married Arvid Rolfe, who died in 1974. They moved to Tekoe, Wash., to start an Allis Chalmers distributorship. They later moved to Grants Pass, where they established Rolfe Realty. In 1979, she married Rembert Rieland, who died before her. She was active in many community services, for which she received several awards. For 24 years, she volunteered with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and sang with the Serenaders. She also volunteered as a cashier and served on the board of directors as secretary for the Rogue Craftsmen for 22 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and she enjoyed crocheting, going for walks, volunteering, collecting stuffed bears and reading. She also enjoyed people. Survivors include a sister, Betty Drain of Lake Forest, Calif.; and two stepchildren, Gloria Barton of Meridian, Idaho, and Kenneth L. Rolfe of Dallas, Ore.
