Claborn "Clay" Harvey, 86, of Grants Pass died, Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at his home. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park. He was born Claborn Marshall Harvey on Sept. 21, 1923, in Eakly, Okla., to Enoch and Opal Harvey. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from Dec. 1, 1943, until his honorable discharge on April 6, 1946. He served aboard the USS Saratoga and at the battles of Midway and Iwo Jima. On Dec. 24, 1945, in Yuma, Ariz., he married Wanda Lorene Keeter, who died before him on Jan. 22, 2008. Together, they moved to Grants Pass from Mara Loma, Calif., in 1993. He attended River Valley Community Church. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Survivors include son Art Harvey of Grants Pass; daughter Lori Molitor of Grants Pass; sisters Oleta Lusby of Palm Springs, Calif., and Mary Nielsen of La Habra, Calif.; and four grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Harvey, in 2003.
