Charles F. Snell, 83, of Grants Pass died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Stephens Family Chapel. Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. He was born May 12, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Charles and Ruth Snell. During World War II, he served in the Navy for four years and received an honorable discharge. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Burbank, Calif., and was a patrolman for the Los Angeles Police Department for 21 years. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and he volunteered with the Salmon Trout Enhancement and Steelheader programs in Grants Pass. He enjoyed the outdoors and helping family and friends. In addition to his wife, Lillian, survivors include a daughter, Ruth Coogan of Jacksboro, Tenn.; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
