Selma resident Chuck Jacobs, artist, musician and master craftsman, died at the age of 77 on August 22, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, August 24 from 5 to 9 pm, at the Jacobsâ home in Selma. Chuck was born March 15, 1930, in Modesto, CA to Charles Henry Jacobs and Olive Ruth (Overstreet) Jacobs. Chuck served two years in the Army from 1952 to 1954 and served in the Korean War. Chuck graduated from Life Bible College in Los Angeles in 1959, and received a Bachelor of Theology in 1962. In 1971 he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Azusa Pacific University and in1972 he completed his Master of Arts. He taught Marriage and Family Relations at Citrus College, in Glendora, CA and worked as an eligibility worker for the Department of Public Social Services in Covina, CA. It was here that he and his wife Betsey met. After retirement, their love of nature drew them from Claremont, CA to Selma, OR, where they have lived happily since 1992. He leaves behind his wife Betsey Ross Jacobs of Selma, OR, his four children, Lynell Miller from Federal Way, WA, Cynthia Englebright from Novato, CA, Gary Jacobs from La Mesa, CA and Jeanette Jacobs from Sunnyvale, CA, three step-children, Peggy Jackson of Selma, OR, Bill Thompson of Helena, MT, and Mark Thompson of Chapel Hill, NC, 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. He also has two brothers, Jim and Dick Jacobs and their families of Modesto, CA. Chuck was a member of the Unitarian Fellowship of Grants Pass and an active member of the community. His family agrees that his passion for adventure and love of the arts inspired many. The family would like to thank our friends for their love and support.
