Two years later she would lose her older sister as well to illness. She came to Canada after the war at age 18 by boat, where she met her husband Arno Hindemit also from Germany and they married in 1953. They moved to California in 1960 and made their home in Santa Clara for 18 years. Brigitte worked at one of the first Silicon Valley computer chip companies in Santa Clara. In 1978 they moved to Wilderville, Oregon. Her husband Arno died in 1996, they had been married for 43 years. She then moved to Rogue River where she made many new dear and loving friends. She worked for Josephine County as a caregiver and also the KOA campground, McLain's Drug Store and the Riverside Inn. She leaves behind her brother Walter Wohlfarth of Bremen Germany, daughter Jeannie Amarillas of Rogue River, daughter Linda Hindemit of San Ramon, Calif.,daughter Heidi Wallace and husband Steve of Grants Pass and son Bob Hindemit of Wilderville. She has 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Brigitte was a strong woman whose life had some sad tragedies, but she endured and lived her life for her family and always put them first. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend. She was a selfless, caring person always willing to help others. She loved being with her friends and family most. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking from scratch, her homemade potato salad was somewhat famous. She really enjoyed music and dancing, gardening, playing RummiKub with friends and discussing current events. Her favorite flowers were gladiolas and carnations. Heart felt appreciation to her two daughters Jeannie and Heidi who lovingly cared for her after she fell ill. Also thanks to Asante Hospice for their kind care of her in her last months. You will be missed so much by many and always loved and present in our hearts and never forgotten. Ruhe in Frieden.
