Billy Paul "Bill" Pyle, 80, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, after a battle with cancer. Services with Navy Honors will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery. He was born May 11, 1932, in Grants Pass to Press Pyle and Violet Biss Pyle. He grew up in Grants Pass and attended Grants Pass High School. From 1950 to 1954, he served in the Navy in Korea and Japan. He was honorably discharged after he broke his back while working on a landing craft. For many years, he worked as a river guide for Pyle Brothers Guide Service, with his father and uncle,âSid Pyle. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family hunting, fishing and doing other activities. In addition to his wife, Brenda, survivors include two daughters, Elaine Toothman and Marie Wilder; six sons, Press, Paul and Robert Pyle, and Jason, Chris and Glenn Burke; a brother, Jack Pyle of Rogue River; a sister, June Pyle of Grants Pass; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sons, Billy and Doug Pyle, and two sisters, Joan Washburn and Jeanne Martin, died before him.
