Betty Jane White

Betty Jane White, 83 of Grants Pass passed away February 2, 2012 at her home in Grants Pass. Celebration of her Life will be held later this month at Calvary Crossroads Church with Pastor Bob Bonner officiating. Contributions in lieu of flowers: Calvary Crossroads Church 1051 SE "M" Street, Grants Pass, OR 97526 She was born on October 13, 1928 in Parker, Pennsylvania to John and Arlene Nunamaker. She graduated from Parker High School in 1946. She went to work for the FBI in Washington, DC in 1948 and then worked for the Department of Air Force at the Pentagon in 1949 as a secretary. Betty married James Lewis Markin on June 23, 1950 and had Sharon Lee Markin on February 18, 1951. They moved to Los Angeles, California in June of 1951. On October 11, 1954 in Los Angeles she gave birth to her second child John Lewis Markin. On September 18, 1972 her husband James passed away. On November 15, 1975 in Palos Verdes Estates, CA she married Dale Herbert White acquiring another daughter Susie and son Dale Jr. After he retired in June of 1979 they moved to Grants Pass onto a 14½-acre mini farm where they lived until 1986 when they moved into the city of Grants Pass and began RV'ing as snowbirds to Yuma, AZ each winter. They continued to travel to all 50 states until Dale passed away on February 3, 2007. Betty enjoyed camping with the Rogue River Rooster Sam's for many years. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and friends, playing games. She was a member of the Betty Club and Calvary Crossroads Church. Survivors include her daughter Sharon Eyre of Grants Pass and step-son Dale White of Grants Pass; sister Annabelle Overheim of McKinney, Georgia; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to her two husbands she was preceded in death by her step-daughter Susie Geer and son John Markin.
