Basil Charles Dickson, 86, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at FairView Transitional Health Center in Grants Pass. Basil was born February 22, 1927, to Basil and Lynola (Dixon) Dickson on Henry Holard Road in West Nicholson, PA. He was the youngest of three boys, brothers Delmar & Robert. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1945. Basil married Virginia Lattanzi on April 10, 1947, and together they had five children. Basil was Owner of Oxbow Dairy Farm on Avery Station Road, East Lemon, PA. The family sold the farm and moved to California in 1965. Basil became employed by Knudsen-Kraft in July 1965 and retired in Visalia, CA, on February 1990. Basil and Virginia moved to Wilderville, OR, in 1991 to build their retirement home; Basil enjoyed his early retirement first overseeing the building of their log home, then doing lots of fishing, eating Virginia's fantastic cooking and relaxing with their cats. Basil is survived by Virginia (87), his wife of 66 years (Wilderville, OR); daughters Diane Martinez (Albuquerque, NM), Debara Sorge (Grants Pass, OR) and Lorraine Moore (Medford, OR); and son, Clifford Dickson (Wilderville, OR); six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew (and their families). Basil was preceded in death by both parents, brothers Delmar and Robert, and youngest son, Thomas. Services will be private.
