Avron Douglas "Al" Gershen

Avron "Al" Douglas Gershen, 69, of Grants Pass passed away Friday August 5, 2011 at his home. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, August 11th at 1:00 PM at Edgewater Christian Fellowship 101 Assembly Circle, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526 with Pastor Mark Skudstad officiating. Contributions in lieu of flowers: Billy Graham Evangelistic Association 1 Billy Graham Parkway Charlotte, NC 28201-0001 He was born on September 12, 1941 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to George and Edythe Gershen. Al received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Northridge Polytech in Southern California. He worked most of his life as a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.). On May 26, 1983 in Northridge, California he married Kathleen Holmes who survives. Together they moved to Grants Pass in 1992 from Van Nuys, California. He enjoyed music plying the steel guitar, lead guitar and bass guitar. He also enjoyed electronics, stamp collecting, photography and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife survivors include 4 stepchildren Patti Garcia, Gloria Garcia, Suz Montemayor and James Garcia; brother Eugene Gershen; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
