Archibald John McKillop, 80, of Grants Pass passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at his home. McKillop was born April 12, 1920, in Tacoma, Wash. He graduated from Grant High School in Portland and attended the University of Washington. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he completed his education at the University of California at Berkeley and took advanced work in education at Long Beach and USC. On June 30, 1944, in Pasco, Wash., he married Margaret Lee Erdman, who survives. He worked for five years in business before he received his teaching credential. He then taught high school in California and became a teacher-administrator at Mt. San Antonio Community College in Covina, Calif. After retiring in 1977 he moved to Grants Pass. He served on the Park Board, the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, the Consumer Protection Agency, the state Mental Health Advisory Board and the Rogue Alliance for the Mentally Ill. In college, he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi. In addition to his wife, survivors include, a daughter, Karen Janssen of Gramts Pass.; two sons, Malcolm McKillop of Sacramento, Calif., and Kim McKillop of Grants Pass; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
